Green by Design: Hougang Olive Earns BCA Green Mark Gold

Hougang Olive, JGP's 390-unit HDB development in Hougang, has received the BCA Green Mark Award (Gold) for sustainable design and construction.
The Building and Construction Authority has awarded Hougang Olive the Green Mark Award (Gold), recognising the environmental sustainability of the 390-unit Housing & Development Board project in Hougang. The four-block development is bounded by Hougang Avenue 3, Hougang Street 12 and Hougang Street 13, with two of its four 12-storey blocks connecting directly into a multi-storey car park.
The Gold rating was announced in 2022, several years ahead of the project's completion — construction reached full completion only around early 2025, reflecting how BCA assesses Green Mark ratings for HDB Build-To-Order projects at the design and construction stage rather than after residents move in. JGP's design places all blocks at the site's periphery, freeing up a vehicle-free, curvilinear central open space, with units oriented north or south to draw on cross-ventilation and views over the internal landscaped grounds.
Beyond the greenery that gives the project its name, Hougang Olive's amenities extend to a roof garden above the car park, children's playgrounds, and dedicated adult and elderly fitness stations woven into the landscape.
