Built for the Long Run: Kempas Residences Wins Green Mark Gold

2022年5月26日

Kempas Residences, a 580-unit HDB development beside Boon Keng MRT, has been awarded the BCA Green Mark Award (Gold) for sustainable design.

The Building and Construction Authority has awarded Kempas Residences the Green Mark Award (Gold), recognising the environmental sustainability of the 580-unit Housing & Development Board development beside Boon Keng MRT Station. Four residential towers of 30 to 37 storeys rise on a site flanked by four major roads, served by a 7-storey multi-storey car park, a childcare centre and Future Social Community Facilities.

Kempas Residences went on to become one of the last two pandemic-delayed HDB housing projects completed nationwide, reaching completion in January 2025 — around six months behind its original schedule — alongside Punggol Point Cove. Its completion closed out a run of 92 HDB projects delayed by pandemic-era construction disruptions, which together delivered more than 75,800 new flats.

The Green Mark-recognised design threads connectivity through the precinct: a pedestrianised ground plane links residential blocks to the childcare centre and community facilities, while linkways and canopies extend out to the main street and Boon Keng MRT Station. Mid-level sky terraces at the 8th and 30th storeys give residents outdoor space without leaving the towers.
