Citadines Balestier – BT Centre has won the Hotel Architecture, Singapore category at the Asia Pacific Property Awards International 2020-2021, recognising JGP's design for the serviced residence on Balestier Road. The building is developed by Low Keng Huat Pte Ltd, a Singapore developer established in 1969, and comprises 166 serviced apartments managed by The Ascott Limited, part of CapitaLand, above a three-storey retail podium.
The design draws directly on Balestier Road's Art Deco shophouse character — bold colour, form, and the orange terracotta roof tiles that define the street. JGP's commercial podium reinterprets that heritage through a terracotta-toned, perforated aluminium panel screen made to resemble a woven rattan basket, sitting behind a glass commercial frontage.
Lit at night, the podium was designed to read as a landmark at the start of the Balestier Road streetscape — a role the Asia Pacific Property Awards judging recognised alongside the building's daytime presence.
