Aljunied Road Nursing Home has received a Merit in MOH Holdings' Design Excellence Award 2023, recognising its design's success in creating a genuinely home-like environment for residents.
The 9-storey, 342-bed facility sits along Pelton Canal, a park connector linking Kallang Park and Balam Park, and fronts the busy Aljunied Road. Its design maximises views of the canal while vertical fins on the façade help buffer noise from the nearby PIE highway, softening the building's institutional edges. A porous ground floor doubles as a public void deck with a communal pantry, opening the home to the surrounding neighbourhood, while landscaped gardens throughout incorporate therapeutic elements and spaces for intergenerational activity.
