Heritage in Brick: West BrickVille Wins Green Mark Gold Plus

West BrickVille @ Bukit Batok, designed by JGP Architecture for the Housing & Development Board, has received the Green Mark Award (Gold Plus) from Singapore's Building and Construction Authority (BCA) in 2025.

Sited between Bukit Batok Road and Bukit Batok West Avenue 8, the development's five residential blocks are arranged around a shared open space with children's playgrounds and fitness corners, offering 689 units spanning 2-room Flexi through 3Gen flats. The name and façade take their cue from the area's former brick factories, with painted "bricks" forming a gradient toward the gable ends, while winding jogging and cycling paths echo the flowing form of kiln smoke through the central green area and onto the car park's rooftop garden. Launched in HDB's October 2024 BTO exercise as one of the first Standard-classification projects, the development carries a shorter estimated waiting time of about two years.

The Gold Plus certification reflects sustainable design carried through a fast-track public housing project.
