Mar 17, 2025 · JGP

St Luke’s Eldercare Residence @ Jelapang has been awarded the prestigious Merit tier for the Design Excellence Award 2025 by MOH Holdings. Developed in architectural collaboration with JGP Architecture, this upcoming integrated facility is celebrated for its forward-thinking infrastructure, which blends an Active Ageing Centre (Care) and a high-capacity nursing home into a cohesive sanctuary for healing, dignity, and independence.

Seamlessly Integrating Long-Term Nursing and Active Eldercare

St Luke’s Eldercare Residence @ Jelapang is a visionary addition to Bukit Panjang’s urban landscape, representing a pioneer model for Singapore's super-aged society. Developed alongside New Life Community Services, the dual-purpose facility breaks away from the stark layout of clinical wards. Instead, the architecture establishes a warm, home-like environment where both frail and active seniors can thrive side-by-side.

Key Design & Structural Highlights:

  • Holistic Co-Location Layout: Intentionally integrates a comprehensive nursing home facility with an accessible Active Ageing Centre (Care) to offer progressive, seamless care paths.
  • Biophilic and Heritage Accents: Utilizes abundant natural light, indoor greenery, and familiar neighborhood spatial flows to reduce anxiety, prompt positive orientation, and elevate cognitive well-being.
  • Inclusive Rehabilitation Zones: Features flexible fitness and rehabilitation suites optimized with open layouts to encourage group interaction, independent movement, and social joy.
  • Deep Community and Site Sensitivity: Erected next to Greenridge Shopping Centre to act as an open neighborhood landmark that naturally invites family, volunteer, and intergenerational engagement.

By balancing high-capacity clinical support with community-centered accessibility, the infrastructure positions itself as a baseline model for sustainable, dignified care in Singapore’s residential neighborhoods.
