JGP-designed Pioneer Polyclinic in Jurong West receives the BCA Universal Design Mark Gold Award for its barrier-free healthcare design.
Pioneer Polyclinic, the 7-storey healthcare facility near Pioneer MRT station designed by JGP Architecture, has received the BCA Universal Design Mark Gold Award from the Building and Construction Authority. Completed in 2017 for the Ministry of Health, the polyclinic expanded primary healthcare access for more than 270,000 residents in the Jurong West area.
The design takes a pedestrian barrier-free approach that ties the building into the surrounding urban fabric, and organizes clinics, a laboratory and x-ray room, pharmacies and healing terraces to support efficient healthcare workflows. A 4-metre-wide sheltered walkway runs along the building's periphery, and half of the sixth storey is designed to convert into additional consultation modules as future demand grows.
The facility also supports self-registration, health screenings, consultations and payment collection, aimed at encouraging patients to manage more of their own care.
